A Delay In Alex's Driver's Permit

Song:  Moon Over Ruined Castle

Last week...
I had taken Alex to the DMV to take his Driver's Permit written test.

Although Alex had passed the written test...
he had failed the eye exam.

Right after the DMV...
we stopped by the neighborhood Optometrist's office.

Alex had never complained of not being able to see well.

Alex always sits at the front and center of all of his classes...
so, he never had a problem seeing the board.

His sight is about the same as mine...
very near sighted.

We then stopped in at our neighborhood Walmart to look at glasses.

I ended up going back home to pick up my wife
so she could help Alex pick out his glasses.

We bought Alex two pairs of glasses with anti glare lenses.

Each pair cost just $46.00...complete with the frames...
the specially coated prescription lenses...
and a hard shell case.

We are expecting to pick up the glasses sometime this week.

We will then have to go back to the DMV with his glasses to get his Driver's Permit.

Only then may I start to teach Alex how to drive.

Although Alex was feeling a little down because he will have to wear glasses...
he quickly snapped out of it.

His world is an intellectual one.

He will not have to labor in a physical world...
one where having to wear glasses is more of a burden.

Alex and his mother had settled on a fashionable pair...
and Alex will begin wearing them in a couple of days.
