Alex At The 2016 ARML Nationals - I

Bansuri - Bass Bamboo Flute

Last Thursday...
we had to wait until Alex completed his class at Mountain College before we could
depart for Las Vegas so Alex could compete with his math team (NNV Math Club)...
in the ARML Nationals.

We ate at an all you can eat sushi place before we left.

We ate our fill...
and then settled in for our almost 8 hour journey to Las Vegas.

We headed East...

and then South.

We arrived at our hotel a little after midnight.

At a little after 3 PM the next day...
Alex met his team in one of the dormitories on the campus of UNLV.

They had a room where they held a practice test.

The young man on the left
(the highest scorer on the team)...
was explaining a problem.

A little before 6 PM...
the team had to walk to the team round classrooms...
where each team had to solve many different problems.

After the team round portions...
the teams made their way to the main room to listen to a guest speaker...
and to then participate in a fun team round.

At the conclusion of the fun round and the presentation...
the teams had pizza for dinner.

The team then went back to the dorm and bedded down for the night.

In the morning...
the team ate breakfast at 7:45 AM...
and then went to the main testing room for the rest of the competition.

Throughout our stay in Las Vegas...
it was 110 degrees F.
