A Patriotic Sunset In Reno

Song:  Slow (live)

Artist:  Rumer

A Red, White, and Blue sunset.

My wife had taken these photos from in front of our house last night.

My wife had never seen the almost electric neon pinks frequently seen in the Reno sunsets...
before our moving here.

A beautiful sunset...one of the great simple pleasures in life.

-------------------------------

You just had to have known I wasn't going to let it go with just this though  :)

Fair warning...
this is a non PC zone you are about to enter.

It is about common sense...
and love of our own families first and foremost...
and above all others...
and about the love of our Nation first and foremost...
and above all others...
just as all other Nations' peoples do.

It is about the correct prioritization of our thought processes...
about how to easily structure them to easily think about almost any issue.

-------

When my wife had shown me these photos earlier today...
I had, of course, noticed the red, white, and blue...
which immediately made me think of our national flag...
and which, of course, led me to think about the very nature of Patriotism.

What immediately comes to mind is how divided our Nation seems to be
at this point in time...of how people seem to be so easily manipulated
by self-serving politicians, and the agenda driven main outlets of our media.

Just like with everything in life...
the answers are very easy
(only people make things unnecessarily complicated).

The short and direct answer:

That which applies to the micro...applies to the macro.
That which applies to the macro...applies to the micro.

It applies to everything in life.

So how does this specifically apply here (to Patriotism)?

Micro - The Family Unit

Macro - The Nation

The Family Unit is the fundamental building block of a nation.

---------

What?  Shiroi, are you saying that single persons are not patriotic?

Are you saying that single persons do not form
the fundamental building blocks of a Nation?

And what of other couples who never have children?
Are they now somehow not so important...
somehow second class citizens?

Why...you bigot!

--------

My Reply:

Most of our military is made up of single males.
They are undeniably patriotic...in action...not just in words.

However...
you must factor in time...
and the continuity of mind for the future
when a person becomes a parent.

You must remember...
I was a patriotic 17 through 21 year old in the US Army.

I was single for many decades...
and I had not become a parent until after over four decades of life.

No matter how patriotic I was when I was single...
my concern for my son's future multiplied my concern
for the future of our Nation, once he was born.

It was only then that I had a mind for the future beyond my own years in life.

When a person becomes a parent...
he loves his child more than his own life.

This naturally opens the window of life beyond his own...
and extends into the future of his child/children...
and of their children...etc.

Both...
the single individuals...
and the family units...
can be very patriotic.

What differs is how far into the future they often think.

The difference is a matter of strategy and tactics.

In simple form...

Strategy is the choice of route chosen...
and of the destination desired.

Tactics are the means and methods of effecting the journey.

In war terms...

Strategians formulate the general plan to win the war.

Tacticians formulate the plans to win each of the battles.

In terms of that of a family man vs that of a single person
then comes down to breadth and depth of thought
vs immediate concerns over a shorter period of time.

So...
it is the family unit which leads to long term stability of a nation...
and it is why there are so many selfish young people who vote
only for narrow short term concerns
(freebees or special rights just for their group...
and so, they will sell out the future of everyone else).

They vote for things that only concern themselves...
at the expense of future generations...
as they have no stake in the future beyond themselves
(This is a statistically generalized statement.
There are still many young single people who are long term patriots).

-----------

Okay...
I went off track a bit.

What is a Patriot?

It is a person who realizes that his Nation is one extended family unit.

His fellow patriots are cousins, uncles, aunts...etc.

And so...
he is concerned for the future of the whole for the long term.

Now...
just as a nation can be thought of as a large extended family...
a family unit may be thought of as a Nation.

All concerns facing a Nation may easily be answered
through this simple thought process.

My main thrust is Micro Macro...Macro Micro.

Through the following issues I will attempt to demonstrate
this way of thinking through my reasoning on these issues.

(Many of these concerns Alex had written about in his national contest essay.
More on this next week.  We still don't know how far up the contest tier
Alex's essay had progressed.  We only know that he hadn't made the Nationals.
Alex is attending a dinner and award ceremony next week.
He will be reading his essay at the ceremony.
I will be recording it...
and I will post it...
along with a copy of his essay).

Some of the major problems:

Economy

Just as a household may not operate successfully without funds...
neither may a Nation.

A family which runs on an increasing credit debt...
eventually will owe more, just on interest, than they will be able to pay.

Only a family which plans and invests for their future...
will thrive.

Say a family had runaway debt...
one of the parents kept spending recklessly...
without regard for the future of their family.

They kept prioritizing other concerns over that of
the economic solvency of the family.

Solution?

Get rid of the credit cards...
and get debit cards.

Application to this Nation?

A constitutional amendment limiting Congressional spending
to just that of 90% of what the country had taken in
from the previous year...
and with the other 10% going to debt payment.

They would be then be forced to correctly prioritize their spending.

Taxation
(subcategory)

Now...
this is tricky...
as modern families generally have no equivalent...
except when the children take care of their aging parents.

Just as there are differences among siblings' earnings...
there is a stratification of taxable citizens' earnings.

A flat tax by percentage is the only fair...
and workable way...long term.

The sibling who had worked hard all of his life
is not a lesser of a person when it comes to division of funds
because of hard times.

A person who is taxed at a higher percentage of his earnings
is being penalized for his success in life.

If he is being penalized on an unequal basis by percentage...
he is therefore not seen as being equal to others...
he is being seen as an economic slave...
someone who must give more by percentage...
and so...is someone who is seen as underserving of equal treatment...
and so... a second class citizen.

He has just as much right to the same percentage of fund donation
to care for his parents...as do his siblings.

This also gives each sibling the same amount of sacrifice
by percentage...so each may feel the same amount of pain...
and pride in his giving...as his siblings.

There will be no envy...
no false pride...
no division between the family members.

The family operates as one...
with no hard feelings among siblings.

The same applies to Nations.

Each member of the Nation hurts the same...
and has the same amount of pride in their sacrifice for their Nation.

They become one as a people...
one in true equality...one in voice...
and they would demand accountability of the spending...
and would always ensure the correct prioritization of the spending.

There would be no divisive rhetoric possible...
as is now commonly used by politicians...
and their lap dogs...the agenda driven media.

Immigration

How people can be divided about this, is...well...amazing to me.

It is very simple if they simply think of the issue as Micro.

Your home

How many families keep their doors unlocked and freely allow
anyone to go in and out of their homes...
and offer the resources for their family for free to them...
with the realistic understanding that there are limited resources...
and that any you give away detracts from the resources
available for your own family members?

The answer:

None

Well, what about the other people's needs?

Well, what about your family's needs?

Why just your family's?

What?...Why?

Because your family must come first.

How is it that one must put someone else who doesn't think
about your families welfare...ahead of you?

They have a right to a happy life?

Yes...and so do you and yours.

No one has a right to take from you for themselves.

Why?

Because you have the same rights as do they.

You have a right to the fruits of your labors...
as do they to theirs.

If all are considered to have equal rights...
their claim to yours is nullified by your claim to yours.

You see how it works?

Any turn around of an argument works against the owner of the rhetoric...
if applied equally.

It is a null argument.

Now...
how about someone who offers to do a service for the family
in exchange for housing?

What about someone whom you could vet...
someone whom you could safely bet would prove
to be of no threat to the safety and security of the family unit...
and someone who would not be a financial or resource burden on the family?

Yes...
it is done in both the Micro and the Macro.

And so...
the difference between legal immigration and illegal immigration.

So...
you may ask...
do I hate illegal immigrants?

NO

For the most part...
I cannot help but admire them.

They are doing what they feel they must do
in order to help their families.

Their families come first and foremost in their minds.

This is the way it should be.

I do not blame them.
I would do the same were I in their position.

However...
I do blame our government.

You do not prioritize anyone before us...
your citizens...
your family.

Do not give of our resources...
in any form...
especially when so many of our own citizens don't get any.

What about their children?...
you may falsely argue.

What about our children?

Stop giving...
the ones who come mainly for the public assistance will stop coming.

What about their contribution to our economy?

A false argument...
easily answered.

Simply increase the amount of legal immigration.

What about all those who came in illegally...
and who have led successful lives by working
and had not sought public assistance?

Well...
good for them.

This means they will never be caught.

My question to you though:

How is it that they can pay any taxes then?

Well...
so long as they never try to seek any public assistance...
in general...they are not the problem
(minus free education and free emergency health care).

--------

Shiroi...
you said you do not hate illegal immigrants...
yet your responses seem to be vitriolic.

--------

No...
they are simply not PC.

My mother and my wife are legal immigrants (from Japan).

My responses are driven...
not by hate...
but by love.

I love my family over all others.

Just as all others from other countries feel for their families...
I feel for mine.

My question to you:

How is it that all other nations' peoples may put their families first...
yet any from this country may not?

Of course we may...
it is quite simple:

Micro Macro...
Macro Micro.

-----------

So...
what does this mean to the common man?

How can he be a true Patriot?

A true Patriot understands that love of his country
does not necessarily mean that he must potentially sacrifice his life for his country
(and so the high honors for the warrior class that our veterans occupy).

The common man need not have been a service member to be a Patriot.

It is in his love for his Nation...
of his long term concern for the welfare of his Nation...
and of his subsequent actions through his understanding of world history
(and the true ramifications of failed societal experiments in governance
so he will not allow a recurrence of the same stupidity in his Nation...
such as in any manifestation of Marxism)...
and the structure of his government...
of his thorough understanding of the issues which affect the future of his Nation...
and so, the future of his children and/or the future
of all of his fellow citizens' children...
and of how his vote will affect it.

He will not strive to unfairly take from others
of their labors and efforts (as through unfair taxation)...
but will strive to improve his own life...
and that of his family's.

He will raise his children to be the same
so they may become one of the contributors
by becoming one of the strong building blocks of this great Nation...
and ones whom contribute to their own welfare and futures...
instead of trying to allocate the funds of others toward themselves...
or to prioritize anyone of another Nation...
over that of their own.

Above all...
he understands the great importance of the Constitution...
and the reason for it.

It is to ensure the rule of law...
over that of rule by man.

It is to ensure we are never to be ruled by tyrants...
whether by man...or by many men
(a tyrant may also be a majority...a pure Democracy...a mob)...
or of that of an overreaching Federal Government...
or that of multi mini fiefdoms which seek to establish their own rules
more restrictive to the citizens than guaranteed by the Constitution.

A Patriot...
understands that the Constitution is what stands supreme
over that of any and all divisions of governance...
and all the way from Federal, to State, and to Local...
as each subdivision may pass other laws...
they must be subservient to the higher...
and in no case...
may any be more restrictive to the citizen than that which is given by the higher...
and especially by that of the Constitution.

Micro Macro

Macro Micro

All of life may be thought of as this.

Life is complicated by people striving toward complexity for answers.

Answers come through simplicity.

Manipulators strive to complicate...
to form a web of confusion...
and to then deceive.

One of their chief ways is to attempt to make an objective argument
into a subjective one...through emotion
(they know from the beginning that they would lose objectively).

They will then create a false sense of urgency...
so as to commit people to forego a truly objective review.

It is frequently through divisive rhetoric...
almost always through some 'us against them' scenario
to inflame envy, anger, undeserved guilt, and especially that of fear.

A child who learns to observe and to reason...
and to especially look at situations through
the eyes of simplicity...
can spot virgin rights and wrongs...
and can see how the micro applies to the macro...
and how the macro applies to the micro.

Through simplicity...
he will be able to make sense of an unnecessarily and overly complicated world.

By seeing things as they truly are...
and of how things should be...
he will be able to guide his life...
instead of being manipulated by a puppet master...
or by giving up his rational mind to a PC zombie master.
