Alex And His Grandmother Share Sunset At Pyramid Lake

Song:  Midnight Oil (Alto Flute and Harp Duet)

Alto Flute and Harp:  Luke Pickman

On the day of our drive to Pyramid Lake...
we first went with Alex to the University of Nevada Reno...
for his starting day of his second year at UNR.

My mother and I had tacos while we waited for Alex to return from his
first day of his second Autumn semester at UNR.

Alex meeting us after his Differential Equations class.

Alex said that he really enjoyed his first day back at UNR.

We are walking back to the car after his class.

Alex went home to study and eat dinner.

We then departed home for Pyramid Lake to watch the sunset.

We had arrived with plenty of sunlight left.

This is on the Southeast side of Pyramid Lake...
the same place as we had come last winter
to enjoy the solitude of a recent snowfall.

The drive from home to the Southeast side of the lake is only about 45 minutes
(Blue dot to the circled exclamation mark)...
by route HWY 80 to HWY 447.

Alex holding on to his mother's camera.
His mother had asked him to take some photos of the sunset for her.

Although the sun had just set...
it usually takes a few minutes more for the colors to emerge in the clouds.

A picture of a 3/4 moon without the telephoto extended...

and one with.

As we awaited the changing colors of the sunset...
Alex played swordsman with a stick...

ran about...

and did his 'Rocky' stance.

Alex next to the 'S. S. AHCHAN'
(Alex's future car.  Ahchan is Alex's nickname).

This is our ever dependable 'Star Ship'...
which, with its full time all wheel drive
and push button locking differentials for true 4 wheeling...
takes us to places near and far...
and in all weather...
snow and ice...
dirt or sand  :)

While this sunset had turned out to not be so spectacular a sunset as I had hoped...
it was still a nice pastel painted sky sunset.

The wind was constantly blowing, which also added to the aura of peacefulness.

Both, Alex and my mother, are very warm and affectionate people.

As the sky started losing it's color...
it was time to leave...

and so, leave...we did.

One last photo before leaving.

We then drove along the Southwestern shore of Pyramid Lake...
and took HWY 445 back to Reno.

My mother is having a good time while she stays with us.

In another month or so...
my mother will, once again, be looking for a house
to purchase here in Reno (near our house).

Alex will be able to really get to know his grandmother now...
and she...him.

When good times are had...
and filled with magical moments...
the memories created...are magical too.

With life being so short...
why do anything less?
