Alex's Paternal Grandmother And Aunt Visit His Math Circle

Song:  Hijo De La Luna

Artist:  Sarah Brightman

My mother and elder sister came to visit a few days ago.

Shortly before they arrived...
my wife had taken these sunset shots from our yards
(front and back yards...of the same sunset as it progressed).

Shortly before the sunset had subsided...
Alex was dancing and goofing off in front of our house
as my wife was taking the last of her pictures for the night.

The next morning...
Alex went to his math circle.

My mother and sister had arrived the night before.

My mother is now 76 years old...
but she still loves life...
especially the simple pleasures abounding within...
including good food.

My mother came to rent a home until she may purchase...
and wait for the house she wants to buy, to be built.

On this morning...
we again visited the model she likes.

We then dropped off Alex at his math circle at UNR...
and my mother, elder sister, and I, went out to a local Thai restaurant for lunch.

We ordered a seafood soup and two types of curry.

Their food was very good.

After lunch we went upstairs to where Alex was solving problems
with some other members of his math circle.

There were only three of the members there on this day.

Many of the others are on vacation.

All three solved all of the problems of a previous Mandelbrot math contest
(each member had worked independently...
and each had solved all of the problems correctly).

We sat in some chairs as we waited for Alex's math circle to conclude their session.

We then made our way out...
and back home.

A few hours later...
we went out to eat at a Teppanyaki restaurant.

We had to wait but a few minutes.

Everyone enjoyed the show...
and the food.

We enjoyed Filet Mignon...
Lobster, Shrimp, Calamari, Scallops, and Chicken...
and I had fried, and white, rice.

Alex especially enjoyed the Filet Mignon.

Alex missed the flying broccoli...7 times :)

We then ate dessert...
and several hours later...
bedded down for the night.

On the next day...
we continued our search for a good temporary home
for my mother to rent nearby.

We have more homes to look at tomorrow.

  1. Continue to be amazed by the gorgeous sunsets... must be wonderful to see those almost every night.

That teppanyaki meal looks delicious. Ha, glad that Alex had a great filet to replace the taste of the disappointing steak from a few days ago.

I'm sure the misses with the broccoli are more due to the chef's tosses than on Alex.

  2. The beautiful sunsets are only equaled by the beautiful sunrises. I, too, am amazed at the frequency of really great sunsets here.

Actually, we had gotten a chef who was still learning. Not only were his shots off (my sister also, could not catch them), he had not spiced the meal so well as from prior times we had visited. His show was also very simple, with very few food tricks. However, Alex still loved the filet mignon.
