Steven Pinker - An Author Of Immense Knowledge And Common Sense

Song:  The Memory Of The Trees

Artist:  Enya

I have been reading one of Steven Pinker's books:

The Blank Slate - The Modern Denial Of Human Nature

(screen captures off of Amazon)

His books are available at Amazon.com.
This particular book sells for a little over $12.00...
and at some 534 pages (minus appendix)...
it is still a bargin at many times this price.

Rarely have I come across an author who possesses
such an immense amount of knowledge and who is able
to express his thoughts in such a rational and common sense manner.

This article is about my perceptions about the author
and his clarity of thought, more so than about the book I had read...
as excellent as it is.

However...
I must express my thoughts about this book...
because it was through the book, 'The Blank Slate'
that I was first introduced to the first class mind of the author - Steven Pinker.

Not only is this particular book one which I think should
be required reading for all high school students...
but one which should be read by all.

I will have Alex read this book soon.

This man has such clear insight to the human condition...
it gives me hope for our future...
as I find the world filled with such...
discombobulated thought patterns...
 irrationality...
almost complete insanity...
that to have learned that this author is held in such high esteem
means that there are plenty of other rational thinkers out there.

It is very important to have high school students
read this material to open their eyes to true thinking...
as demonstrated just by the way the author presents his material...
with solid rationales and everyday examples of his points.

Again...
just by reading his explanations...
you get a glimpse into the mind of the author...
and of his mental process.

This is important...
as he promotes a way of clear thinking...
of truly observing and of coming to rational conclusions.

I want to be clear...
this is not a book about formal logic...
it is not about the study of the structure of logical argumentation.

What this book is...
is a prime example of a man...
who through his writing and examples of the human condition...
demonstrates informal logic.

This is what forms the fundamental building blocks of good ole' country common sense.

Although there are quite a few must read books (such as this one)...
there are very few must read authors.

Steven Pinker is a must read author.

I will be buying all of his books.

If you, as a parent...
wish to lead your children through the land of the walking dead...
through the many PC zombified creatures who excel only at...
making, or meeting up with, other zombies...
the ones who readily attempt to devour the flesh of the living
because of their knee jerk reactions to stimuli which they have
been conditioned to respond to by their PC master zombies...
Steven Pinker is a masterful guide back to the land of the living.

For me...
Steven Pinker's book:  The Blank Slate...
was a very pleasurable read.

It was a page turner not only for the material...
but in the way he had masterfully presented it.

Just through the way his writing is structured...
you may see how his mind is structured...
and so, his way of thinking becomes intuitive.

It automatically introduces rationality to the irrational.

For those who have been indoctrinated in the PC world...
he is an author who gives you a key to unlock the intellectual cage
in which your mind has been imprisoned.

Steven Pinker has an elixer for the zombie scourge...
one which shall bring them back to the land of the living.

When you read this book...
The Blank Slate...
remember...
it is not just what he says in text...
it is in the manner in which he explains things
that is all important.

It is in his rational thought patterns where you will find your elixer.
