Alex Completed His Linear Algebra Final At UNR

Song:  Time To Say Goodbye (Piano Cover)

Rendition:  Calikokat

Alex walking toward his Linear Algebra final on the campus
of the University Of Nevada Reno.

This is his last day on the campus until the start of the Spring Semester
(he is registered for Calculus III).

It is around noon in this photo.
The final was from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM on this fine Saturday.

Alex just before entering the building for his final.

As I had two and a half hours to spend...
I walked around the southern portion of the campus...
and took some photos.

After my walk around...
I returned to my favorite spot beneath the trees.

For the remainder of the time...
I just lay down in the shaded grass and looked up at the clouds
as I listened to some of my favorite music on my iPod.

Alex gathering his things at the conclusion of his final.

Alex with his Linear Algebra Instructor...
Professor Ozer.

Alex really enjoyed the Professor's class.

Alex said that he had explained things well...
and that he had made the class very interesting.

Alex loves the pace at which a University class operates.

He never gets bored now.

I briefly talked with the professor.

He said that Alex is very bright...
and that for me to make sure he continues on his upward trajectory in math.

The professor was surprised to learn
that Alex had only just turned 14 years old last month.

----------

Alex feels confident that he had done well on the final...
and he expects to earn an 'A' in Linear Algebra.

---------

Addendum:  12/19/14 - Alex received his grade today.
He had received an 'A' in Linear Algebra.
Alex is still an A student as a University student...
and as a High School student (he has received all of his grades).

We are going to the garage after his final.

Alex won't be seeing the many familiar buildings of the UNR campus again...
until mid-January.

As it was Saturday...
we got to park in the faculty parking lot
(the same one we had parked at for his Summer Semester
when he had taken Probabilities and Statistics).

We are getting ready to say goodbye to the campus at this point.

Alex feels proud with the effort he had expended
in his assignments for this class.

He still has three more finals to take next week
(at North Star High School).

Alex has been preparing himself on a daily basis...
and I have no doubts as to how well he will also do on the remainder of his finals.

------------------

For supper...
I let Alex pick out his restaurant of choice
(Naan and Kabab).

Alex had his old favorite...
Salmon Kabab.

I had my old favorite...
a Gyro.

Alex finished up with a slice of Cocoa cake.

We were quite full...
and ready to relax for the rest of the night at home.

After Alex completes the remainder of his finals next week...
we will start planning our Sierra Nevada Snow Train trip.

Although we plan to take some mini vacations during Winter Break...
Alex still must prepare for the Spring Semester...
and for the exams coming in January...
as well as for some math competitions coming in February.

Alex is happiest when he has important exams
or competitions for which he must prepare.

They provide motivation...
and help propel him forward toward the fulfillment of his dreams.

And...
as Alex just loves to quantify results...
he gets very happy seeing his steady improvement.

As I have always told Alex...
the world cares only about positive results...
not excuses.

It is the quantity of quality effort which produces the positive results.

In order to achieve the quantity necessary...
you must find a way to love that which you must do...
and you must not fear the occasional faulter.

If you are pushing the envelope of your abilities...
you will sometimes stumble...
but so long as you learn and continue on...
success will eventually be yours.

In short...
when you love the journey to success...
success becomes a foregone conclusion.
