Alex Starts A New Online Class - AOPS AMC 12

Song:  We Three Kings

Artists:  The Piano Guys

Alex online with an AOPS professor and the many other students taking this course.

Alex just started a, once a week, one and a half hour, Math class
specifically focused on the AMC 12 exams coming early next year.

AMC 12 exams are for mathematically gifted High School Seniors (12th grade)
(although any child may attempt the exam no matter the grade).

AMC 12 scores above a certain score are used as a prerequisite
for entrance into higher level math competitions (National and International)...
and are closely looked at by prestigious Universities as consideration for admission.

AIME:
(Wikipedia definition)

The American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME) is a 15-question 3-hour test given since 1983 to those who rank in the top 5% (or score at least 100) on the AMC 12 high school mathematics contest (formerly known as the AHSME), and starting in 2010, those who rank in the top 2.5% (or score at least 120) on the AMC 10.
The AIME is the second of two tests used to determine qualification for the United States of America Mathematical Olympiad (USAMO), the first being the AMC[1]
The use of calculators is not allowed on the test.

Alex shall be taking both A and B sections of both...
AMC 10 and AMC 12 exams early next year...
in an attempt to qualify to take AIME.

In his practice tests...
he has scored high enough to be considered for the next level of competitions...
however, he must put in a lot of quality practice before next year
to ensure he does well enough on the actual exams.

Alex has been using the Art of Problem Solving (AOPS) site
for many of his math exercises for years now.

They start out from a very elementary mathematical level...
and advance through much more advanced mathematics...
and offer competitions on line through Alcumus.

Although his particular class cost $245.00...
as Alex will get much out of it...
it was well worth it.

There are many free courses of study through AOPS for new students of math...
and through the practice that a child receives from this site...
he will get an understanding of math that is not taught in most schools.

For any child wishing to major in any of the hard sciences...
and especially if he is going to major in mathematics...
AOPS is simply a must site to fully utilize.

Richard Rusczyk is the founder of AOPS and he has many texts
which are simply must reads for any student of math.

------------------------

I say again...
all serious students of math simply must get all of the DVDs and books
from these two professors of mathematics:

Richard Rusczyk (The Art Of Problem Solving)

Arthur Benjamin (Mathemagic)

Alex got so excited to meet these two mathematical giants
at some of the events he has attended.

Alex loves all of their material...
and he has long been using AOPS to practice his math.

I guarantee that if you have a child who loves math...
he will absolutely love all of the activities
available from The Art Of Problem Solving (AOPS).

And again...
many of the exercises are free.

Parents have nothing to lose...
and the budding future Mathematicians / Scientists / Engineers...
will have everything to gain.
