Alex's Novel: A Thousand Miles To An Education - His First Draft

Song:  Edgar and Sabin's Theme (extended)

From:  Final Fantasy VI (III in US)

(the winner designation applies to anyone reaching the 50,000 word minimum
within the month of November)

This is from the website submission page for the
November 50,000 word Novel contest.

Alex's school hadn't told the students about the contest until November 4th.
So, that is when Alex had initiated his Novel.

He reached the 50,000 word point on November 26th...
and he then continued on to have 62,955 words in total
in his Novel (not that word count, in of itself, is so important.
It does, however, show that Alex had a continual flow of ideas
during the time given...until completion).

This is from Alex's table of contents in his Novel.

It includes his forward.

This is straight from Alex's story...
Chapter 3.

As the entirety of his novel is a first draft...
and it is the first time I had seen it...
it is, as of yet, completely unedited.

After Alex completes his science project...
and his book report...
I will go over Alex's story with him, chapter by chapter...
and I will ensure certain awkward sentences are smoothed out.

Alex wants to publish his story.
We will go over it until he can make an E-book out of it  :)

Alex has gotten so excited with creative writing through this great contest...
that he is currently working on his next novel.

It is to be a science fiction novel...
however, as of yet, I have no idea of its content.

Writing novels is Alex's new hobby.

Whenever we go out...
he is typing away on his iPad...
and during his free time...
he is usually on his laptop at home...
typing away.

Last night...
as Alex had done very well in a recent Math contest...
we went out to one of our favorite restaurants to celebrate.

In the next article I will include pictures...
although, I am sure many will know which restaurant we had gone to...
once again!

Also, while there...
Alex had tried a new type of food...
and found that he had loved it...
which, of course, had opened a whole new area of food
for him to enjoy.

  2. I have yet to read the story. I am looking forward to doing so in a couple of weeks. I wish to do so with Alex...chapter by chapter. Alex loves to write...he loves to express himself creatively in this manner. Thank you for your comment...and I will explain the pun to him. :)

  3. It seems like many times students who excel in one subject like math do not particularly excel in another area like writing. So it is quite something that Alex has now developed a passion for writing. Good for him!
