Alex's Website Synopsis Of The Epic Novel: Musashi

Song:  Unknown

Artist:  Unknown

One of Alex's assignments at school was to create a website synopsis
of the first half of the novel:  Musashi (Author:  Eiji Yoshikawa).

Alex has read almost 650 pages of the almost 1,000 pages the novel contains.

He had written this synopsis when he had reached the halfway point of the novel.

When he finishes reading Musashi...
he shall write the final synopsis for the other half of this novel.

I had chosen this book for Alex to read, as we use it for daily discussions
to improve his reading comprehension.

Alex has improved so much in his reading comprehension capabilities since
we had begun our daily discussions using this book.

This is one of the world's great pieces of literature.
It encompasses some of the greatest attributes of humans...
and contrasts them with some of the failings of the human condition.

Alex is greatly improving, not only his reading comprehension...
but his ability to rationally discuss a topic using supportive evidence.
And, just as importantly, through this masterpiece...he is learning timeless morals.

Tomorrow, Alex shall begin the experimental phase of his science project.

It should prove to be a very interesting project...
one sure to pique interest.

It is a Physics project.

Although the project is simple in concept...
it is going to be the actual engineering of the device which shall...
undoubtedly, prove to be the most difficult portion, as it will involve some
small moving parts, and some fairly delicate procedures to properly effect
the desired results.

I won't be going into the project in too much detail
until he has submitted his project to his school...
as Alex is going to compete in the Science Fair with this project early next year.

In a few days...
I hope to take Alex to the mountains to enjoy some of the fall colors.

He has been working so diligently in all of his studies...
and, as always...
without the barest of complaint.

Alex is looking forward to putting together this project.

My role will be his conceptual guide...
and his teacher, for the more advanced applications
of the basic principles of Physics he shall be using.

If he is successful
(it is merely a concept at present)...
his project will certainly be noteworthy at the Science Fair in January.

Without giving too much away...
the project will involve the movement of a mass...
by manipulating the adhesive molecular attractive force upon it...
against a constant of its cohesive molecular attractive force...
to achieve a measured and desired effect...
through proper engineering...
using commonly available materials from any drug store.

I am sure it will take much trial and error to get it just right...
but that will be the most interesting portion of the project.

As part of the project...
Alex will also discuss ways to improve its performance
using materials not available to him...
but is technologically possible.

Alex is sure to learn much through the experimentation, and completion, of this project.
