High Country Adventure For Alex - II

Song:  Promise

Artist:  Thomas Bergersen

Alex at 6 mos. of age during his first trip to Yosemite.

This is a picture of Alex, and I, at Yosemite during our previous trip there...
four years ago (Alex was 7 yrs. old).

Alex has been to Yosemite 3 times.
Once when he was 6 months old...
once when he was 7 yrs. old...
and this last time (11 yrs. old).

Glacier Point...
a must see location at Yosemite.

It offers a panoramic view of Yosemite from approximately 7,200 in elevation.

The view of Curry Village on the valley floor of Yosemite...
approximately 4,000 feet below Glacier Point.

Half Dome in full view.

When my wife had seen Half Dome...
she started laughing.

She said my head looked like Half Dome.

She told me to face sideways...
she took the picture...
and then showed me the resulting profiles.

I don't have a Half Dome head!!!

Well...
maybe just a little bit...

Ok...ok...
I have a Half Dome head  :)

Alex relaxing at a meadow en route to Mammoth Lakes after our day at Yosemite.

What a relaxing meadow.
It was fully shaded where we parked...
a cool breeze was blowing...
and all was quiet.

We stretched our legs and just enjoyed the peaceful surroundings
for 30 minutes or so.

We then continued on to Mammoth Lakes (elevation approx. 7800 ft)...
to secure our lodging for the night.

We went out to eat at this beautiful outdoor mall.
It had a multitude of shops and restaurants...
all lit up with many small lights and open fire pits throughout.

We ended up eating here...
The SmokeYard.

We then went back to our motel...
and slept soundly.

Our next day's planned events would include
a gondola ride to the top of Mammoth Mountain
(for lunch at California's highest cafe - approximately 11,000 ft in elevation)...
and for some stupendously spectacular views...
and then a drive through a scenic highway loop of many lakes...
on then on to Mono Lake as we made our way home.
