The choosing of paths to take in life
is one of the most important decisions a person can make.

It is often based on the child's passions and dreams...
which, initially, is good.

The clear mapping of the necessary steps to take to reach
that goal... is what makes it a viable option.

Lets take the goal of Airline Pilot as an example.

Have a brief descriptor of the profession...
the basic duties...pay...hours...work conditions...
job requirements...etc.

Work your way backwards...
research the path that most successful pilots took to achieve their goals.

Note the time it takes for each step.

A frequently used...and one of the most economically sound ways...
is becoming a pilot in the military.

Research the requirements for Aviation entrance in the military...
the number of years required to commit to the service...
the academic requirements and GPA necessary for entrance.

Research the best Majors in University for Aviation...
know which subjects and courses are necessary.

This will tell you the requirements and prerequisites...
which will tell you which courses must be mastered
before University is attempted....which courses to
master in High School...and which ones for Junior High...etc.

This will tell you where the child must be in order for him
to have a good chance at becoming that which he wishes to be.

This will also tell you which areas he should have extra focus on...
such as math.

With the whole path to pilot laid out in front of the child...
broken down into reachable objectives...
the child will be able to see his goal in life in perspective.

He will place great importance on his studies as he will see this
as his way to achieve his dreams.

Don't forget the great power of attitude on his future.

Should he wish to become a pilot...
take him to air shows...take him on a flight...
show movies depicting those whom he wishes to emulate.

With motivation...his drive is developed.

With Reverse Planning...
his path is laid out before him...
from the result to him directly.

It gives a time line...
the sacrifices necessary...
the objectives to achieve...
the necessary path to walk...
all which make it real.

It also lets the parents plan financially...
as knowing the expenses before hand
allows for money to be allotted...
or for alternate means of training to be sought...
as in this case...the military.

It is simply not enough to have a dream...
you must know what to do with your passions...
which path you must walk...
the direction...
the rate of travel necessary...
which provisions you must stock up on...
what to expect...
 so you may plan.

It is the most efficient in life
that are, so frequently...
the most successful.

Reverse Planning
allows your child to achieve his dreams
in that manner...
efficiently...and so...effectively.

Home Schooling - Concept Of Aspiration

The Concept of Aspiration
is not so much of a lesson taught...
but of a passion realized.

To have a want to be like...
to have a burning desire to become...
to have ignited the flame of passion for a dream is
to have visualized one's future as one wishes to live it.

To truly Aspire to achieve
gives one the energy of the gods...
to be willing to bear any burden...
to have a hunger for any challenges
that would further one's self in one's goal.

To look forward and to dream of great things
gives great energy...
great energy leads to great effort...
great effort leads to great repetition...
great repetition leads to excellence.

Once a child has a taste of excellence...
of having overcome a once unachievable objective...
he realizes not only the possibility of doing it again...
he will have acquired the taste of victory.

That sweetness is never forgotten.

Once acquired...
it is forever in the child's mind.

When through great initial effort
the child achieves...
and the passion is lit...
the child will then be chasing his dreams...
effort becomes effortless...
the necessary repetition is sought after
as it then becomes a joy.

With each practice
bringing the child one step closer
to the realization of his dream...
each step forward leads
to great excitement...
 to broader horizons.

Just the journey itself...
the process...
brings great pleasure.

Any great pleasure in life
is not only sought after and repeated...
it leads to great happiness...
from beginning to fruition.

It will have then become an inner drive.

This is the state of being that
we, as parents, wish to engender
in our children.

The cultivation of Aspiration...
is as simple as giving examples
of great achievements
by great persons in history...
or of great fictional characters.

As young children are yet unscribed books...
their chapters yet to be written
by their applied intelligence
and guided efforts...
their possibilities
are, as of yet...
unlimited.

Give them the desire to achieve greatness...
instil the drive to wish to be great...
by showing, through epic sagas...
in prose or film...
the great Aspirations...
of great persons.

To get them used to the idea of what greatness means...
of what each great person did to achieve his goals...
the common theme will make itself apparent.

They will see herculean efforts...
selfless dedication and commitment...
willing sacrifice of short term pleasures
in exchange for long term gains.

They will see the...
great happiness of those
who had led a life of great passion...

the deep satisfaction of those
who lived a life of purpose...

the great honor of those
who have helped others
through their great efforts...
their new way of thinking...
their innovations and inventions.

Get your children to dream of great deeds possible...
the path to greatness and the common path
by which it is achieved.

That is to teach them Aspiration.

In my next article...

I shall go into an efficient and effective
means of exploring the feasibility
and the realization of dreams.

It is a method used by the military
to achieve its objectives.

It is the use of Reverse Planning.

Alex' s Progress With Thinkwell Math / Alex's New Hobby

Alex is advancing even more quickly using Thinkwell Math
(for the math portion only)...
all of his other subjects he learns from Plato.

I often here a cry of victory from him
when he completes the Conceptual Mastery Test (100%).

He is having even more fun learning with this program
as there is even less frustration since it explains
math so well.

He has been on a Wikipedia craze for a while now.

It seems to be his hobby.

He loves searching through it for hours on end.

He has even Blogged about it.

I told him that although it is informative...
it doesn't necessarily mean that all of the articles are correct
since it is viewer edited and written.

He loves trying to find mistakes in articles...
as well as learning new concepts and facts.

I am happy that it is a learning hobby.

Home Schooling - Concept Of Mortality

Final Fantasy Crises Core Montage
My Immortal - Evanescence

As I am not religious...
I speak from the heart.

 The concept of mortality
is of supreme importance to the living
as it gives a sense of urgency.

When the knowledge of only having one shot at life
sinks in to the psyche, it brings to the forefront
the importance of one's decisions on one's life.

Small matters and frivolous concerns
are put into proper perspective.

Short term thrills at the expense of long term gains
are greatly limited...as one realizes how precious time really is.

Although pain, suffering, and infirmity are rightly feared...
Death...so long as one had truly lived life...
should not be.

To have lived your life with great...
  Purpose...
 Passion...
 Growth...
and in service to others...

Is to have lived life experiencing great...
Love...
Friendship...
Courage...
 Honor.

Immortality lies in the hearts and minds of the living...
through the legacy of one's thoughts and actions...
that which benefits all...and forever.

To not only remember those who have passed on...
but to allow their legacy to alter your actions for the better...
to teach others a better way through their experience...
the good...to show what to do...
the bad...to show what not to do...
is to honor them.

To strive to leave a legacy...
to have conquered great challenges...
to be a pathfinder in life...
marking an efficient path to follow...
to mark the pitfalls...
to be prepared to sacrifice oneself for others...
so others may not only achieve a better life...
but may also teach others to do the same...
is to live your life well.

To have left a legacy...
 is to have conquered mortality.

To strive to be someone's immortal...
leads one to live and love fully...
in the here and now.

Heart, Mind, and Action: The Purpose Of This Blog

Song:  He Ain't Heavy...He's My Brother

Group:  The Hollies

The whole purpose of this blog is to help others.

When we had first learned of our son's diagnosis (Autistic),
we were sick with worry over his future.
We had to learn as much as we could by researching
on the internet and through books
as well as through direct observation of our son's ABA treatment.

It has been over 10 years since we had become parents for the first time.
It has been over 7 years since his initial diagnosis.
We have been continuously, and shall continue, learning.
My hope is for you to do the same.

Much of what I speak of is common sense.
For experienced parents...I may be telling you nothing new.

This Blog is aimed at new parents...
especially those with spectrum children.

Through concepts, which have become our guideposts in parenting...

I attempt to motivate the heart...
which provides the impetus for change.

Through examples of success and the logical reasons for implementing them...

I attempt to motivate the mind...
which gives direction for change.

Through a map of our continuing success...

I attempt to give you a plan of action...
so you may give your children all the tools...
to not only improve their lives...
but the lives of all their children...
ad infinitum.

I often speak in a general sense as you know your children.

I am merely a guide.

I say the direction is up.

It is up to you to help them pick the particular path
according to their
 Attitude...
Aptitude...
Passion.

I have given ways to help them with all three.

Through my continual articles, I hope to keep giving you...

Hope...through...
Concepts...
Direction...
Plans...
Motivation.

Please feel free to comment in the comment section.

I, as well as others, would love to hear what works for you.

I am sure many out there have great ideas and stories of success
which would help us all.

When it comes to parenting...

we are all brothers (sisters)...
looking to better the ones which matter the most to
not only us...but to the rest of the world.

It is they...our children...
who through their passions...
 shall eventually change the world.

It is we...the parents...
who through our passions for our children...
shall provide the solid bedrock
from which we may catapult them to success...and so...happiness.

We shall be their Atlas...
upon which...our shoulders they may stand...
the weight of the rest of the world...
upon our shoulders may it rest...
so upon theirs... it shall not.

Let we be strong enough
to carry the burdens...
so their wings are unbound...
so they may be free to fly.

Grief should never be visited upon any child...
it is, however, so often out of our control.

Be it a parent, friend, or pet... a child feels,
especially acutely, these emotions as they
are new to them...
their hearts are pure and innocent.

I shall not go into the well known psychological
ladder (steps) of grief.

It is enough to know that
so long as a person does well by the person lost
before loss occurs...
his sorrow is limited to missing them...
and not the gnawing guilt reserved for those
whom had maltreated or had left unfinished
tasks or desires...
without making the effort necessary
for a meeting of the minds beforehand.

That is why it is so important to give of yourself to those
whom are of great importance to you...
to speak your heart and mind to them...
in the here and now...
before loss is suffered.

It is important to you
and to the persons whom were loved.

Anything left undone...
anything left unsaid...
anything left uncorrected...
anything left unrectified...
any love not expressed...
any friendship not given...
is a weight added to the spirit (emotions).

With too much weight (guilt)...
no matter the strength of your wings...
your spirit will be unable to fly.

While lost love or friendship
has hope of repair...
loss through death is permanent.

A child experiences this, normally, through
the loss of a pet.

So long as they had treated the pet well...
given it much love and care...
death can be looked upon as a natural occurrence.

The person or pet can then be thought of as fortunate
as they had gone through life with the love rendered
by their loved ones without having suffered
abuse or neglect and so... had a good death.

The most efficient and effective
handling of grief is, therefore,
handled before death.

Teach them to be giving in their
Love...
Friendship...
Of their time...
Of themselves...

It is as much for them as for those
around them.

Should the child suffer from deserved guilt...
all is not lost...
let them know the lesson involved...
how they can honor the loss of the loved one
by allowing it to alter their future behavior...
to make sure they treat all future loves appropriately...
in their memory.

By allowing the pain of guilt to alter them...
they can lessen their guilt with each act of goodness.

With enough correct actions
(they will know...when the guilt lifts),
they will have earned absolution.

They will have then...
 defeated grief.
