Home Schooling - Reflection Of Life - Schematic For The Future

Song:  Reflections Of My Life

Group:  The Marmalade

The ability to look honestly at your life...
how it came to be because of your actions or inactions...
how it could have been better...
teaches how to project yourself into a desired scenario...
leading to a schematic for future actions or inactions...
so the future can be molded to fit a desired result.

Allow yourself to see yourself far into the future...
as a deeply satisfied person nearing the end of his life...
reflecting on his greatest memories and achievements.

Imagine what mattered most to your future self...
what really mattered to the self...
not what others thought of you.

Imagine what those things were...
how they came to be.

Most importantly...how you can initiate and complete
those things which really matter in the end.

It also lays out the pitfalls.

Just by realizing that which matters most...
anything else that derails or slows that journey
is to be avoided.

There is only so much time and so many resources.

The more you squander them on frivolous things or pursuits...
the less you have to spend them on that which propels you upward
 and forward.

Many people lose hope...
falsely thinking that their mold is set in life...
that they cannot change their future.

Others know a better way... but lose hope at the height
of the peak...and of the perceived arduous journey...
thinking they simply don't have the energy to complete it...
and so, never start.

What they don't realize is that...
with a sincere changing of the mind...
and of a course of action set...
positive change must come about.

For those who falsely project the difficulty of their trek...
with just the first steps up the correct path
(correct action toward correct plan)...
with their goal in sight (correct vision)...
their motivation grows, as does their energy.

Life takes on meaning right from the first correct steps...
the load is immediately lightened...
their pace is immediately increased...
not because of their being pushed by fear...
but by their being pulled forward
by their thirst and hunger for better.

At this point...
it is not the completion of the goal that is necessary
for deep happiness...
just the sincere journey forward.

Just as one feels climbing a mountain...
with the correct route planned...
with the necessary provisions on hand...
worry is eliminated.

The hiker may then enjoy the beauty of the surroundings.

Anticipation of the coming adventure spurs his heart.

Even the air that he breathes takes on a crisp, delicious aspect.

This is living a correct life.

This, of course, means that to chase short term pleasures
at the expense of long term pleasures is the incorrect path
(Hedonism vs. Deferred Gratification).

Were people to merely reflect on life...
the great importance of it...
the finiteness of it...
they could readily see that the short term pleasures
mean nothing...especially when repeated often.

Pleasure becomes relative to the last.

When repeated often...
it loses meaning...
it loses flavor.

With the promise of a truly great pleasure...
one that starts giving from the first correct steps taken...
as it is, as of then, yet to be realized...
pleasure doesn't stop...
it only increases with each forward step taken.

This is the concept of Discipline...
and how it is not only the correct path...
but a throughly pleasurable one.

It is to be on a Positive Spiral
(Hedonism is a Negative Spiral).

What sends me inward
to a place of great beauty and reflection...
is just my allowing the MP3 player of the mind
to play great orchestras playing great pieces...
the rhythms soothing my soul and stirring my heart...
seeing my future as I recheck my route and of my
envisioning of the great things to come.

This process, while easily done anywhere...
is greatly enhanced in me after a particularly
vigorous workout and of particularly beautiful
natural surroundings to enjoy solitude.

Posture also plays an important part.

By merely aligning the bones to where relaxation may occur
while still being erect...
the mind may then be free to wander.

This is one of the chief reasons monks practice good posture.

It frees you of your body...
and puts you in touch with your soul.

Once you experience beauty in your life...
you may then freely give to others...
as your happiness is assured...
as it is something that no one can take away.

All this...
from honest reflection of your life.
