Home Schooling - The False Concept Of Us And Them

Song:  Us And Them

Group:  Pink Floyd

While, initially...
the use of an Us and Them attitude
may make one feel secure...
it is merely tribalism.

While tribalism can be a rallying point
for unification of a disseminated people...
it ultimately leads to a separation from the whole.
It becomes a self made prison from which people claim
a lifetime of war or one of victimhood.

There is but one exception.

There are those whom are of a mindset of progression
toward that which is good and right...
for self and for all others...
for the long term.

Then there are all others.

Most people are of the mindset
to make progress in life...
in varying degrees...
for themselves and their families...
as demonstrated by their actions throughout life.

This is the world in which one should strive to
become one with...
not one separate from.

The attitude of having the world accept you...
for yourself...
regardless of achievement...
 hunger to progress...
respect for yourself and others
as demonstrated through your actions...
is one of a self proclaimed tribe...
one designed to protect you from
the world and the effort it takes to make headway in it.

It is a cop out...
a handy excuse to not have to adapt...
to use the effort it takes to learn and grow...
to become an adult...
to hold one's self accountable for one's...
 actions...
reactions...
inactions.

It is the root of all the isms...
elitism (unearned)...
racism...
sexism...

and of the special privilege groups...
who want not equal opportunity...
but all the privileges without the responsibility.

Their rallying cry is one of victimhood.

What I continually strive to reinforce with my son
is the mindset of what the true nature
of brotherhood with the rest of the world is.

For those who can do for themselves...
the world cares not about how you feel...
but only about results.

Most people are not so stupid as to be fooled by mere words.

They know that the measure of real intent
is the demonstrated efficient efforts...
as culminated in time...
to some measure of a result.

With true effort that is properly guided...
progress cannot help but be made
(for most...this is in no way directed
to those who truly cannot).

For some...
it is easier...
for almost all...
it is possible.

An organism that fails to adapt...
soon becomes extinct.

To wish to have the world adapt to you
(unless they are wrong)
is ludicrous...
but most of all...
it is an ineffective
use of energy and resources...
that which must be used to further yourself...
to adapt and to grow.

Just as a child will, at times...
spend far more energy trying to get out of work
than just doing the job correctly the first time around...
there are those who would rather waste all of their time
trying to claim victim status instead of improving themselves
and competing on a truly level playing field.

Ultimately...
it is what you prepare your child for in life
that your child will be prepared for when he starts to live life.

I am fully aware that for many on the Spectrum...
life can be difficult.

However...
for most...
the concentration must be on what they can do...
and what they will be able to do with concerted effort.

Life rewards those who achieve through their efforts.

Life can be a very cold and unforgiving barren landscape
for those whom are of the attitude that they need not try hard...
for whatever nebulous reason they have been able to concoct.

Fully prepare your child for the world arena...
for the world will not care about reasons
why they think they cannot do something...
just about what they can do.

It is our sacred duty, as parents...
to prepare our children for life...
by having them engage with the world...
instead of having them believe that the world
will...somehow...owe them something.

The more you teach your children...
the more they will learn.

The more they learn...
the better they will perform.

The better they perform...
the greater the rewards.

The greater the rewards...
the greater the drive for more.

The greater the drive...
the greater the passion...
the greater the happiness...
the better the performance...
it becomes a...
Positive Spiral.

This is what we owe our children...
and this is the attitude the world expects.

Again...
there are those in life...
some on the Autistic Spectrum...
who truly cannot do for themselves.

There was a time in our lives...
when we first got our son's diagnosis...
where I had to consider this possibility.

I had begun planning for the worst case scenario.

For those parents of children whom are of this category...
my heart (and the world's heart) goes out to you.
Your cases deserve society's help.

I shall go into our plans for the mitigation
of a worst case scenario in my next article.

  3. hi I find your writing very interesting, fascinating actually . But I find the strange placement of words really hard to read, and strangely annoying. But apart from that small detail....great blog.

I know some don't like the centering of the text...

along with the short and separated blurbs...

    however...

    it is for...

    effect. :)
